Sandwich Shop in Columbia, MS

About Our Sandwich Shop

“Our business is family owned. We have been in business since February of 1986. My mom, Debbie, my grandfather Louie D. Bedwell, and my grandmother, Grace Bedwell, came together and opened Debbie’s. We have people from all over that come to eat here. We are known for our old tyme burgers, but we also offer daily home-cooked lunches. On Mondays, we serve fried pork chops or baked pork chops in cream sauce. Every Tuesdays, we offer southern fried chicken or garlic and herb baked chicken. Wednesdays’ menu is different each week. Thursday is hamburger steak day. On Fridays, you can choose from our 4-piece fried Mississippi-raised catfish, 8-piece golden fried shrimp, or 2-piece catfish with 4-piece shrimp. Salads, sandwiches, po’boys, hand-battered chicken tenders, and other delicious food options are also offered here.”

About Debbie, Restaurant Owner

“As a lot of you may know, my mom started out working at Jack’s Sandwich Shop before deciding to open her own business. At Jack’s, she worked alongside Jo Ann Franklin. Those of you that know Jo Ann know she is the Burger Queen! She taught her everything.
Well this little woman, literally little, got the idea she could open her own and set out to make it happen. She paired up with my grandfather and grandmother, Louie D. and Grace Bedwell, who helped to accomplish her dream. This is the product of their determination. I asked my mom the other day what made her want to name it Debbie’s? Well her answer was there was a Jack’s, so there is going to be Debbie’s!
Since the beginning, my mom has poured nothing but love into making the best Ole Tyme Burgers of Marion County – some even argue, the best burgers of the south. The number one secret is keeping our products FRESH and LOCAL!
Because of our lovely customers and a determined lady with a dream, we are soon able to happily celebrate 33 years of serving Columbia, MS. Thank you all for all the love and support as well as your loyal business dining at our family restaurant. May God bless us to continue to serve our community for many more years to come!”
– With Love and Appreciation from Debbie, Leann, and The Debbie’s Crew.
